Rubric for Asynchronous Discussion

Find yourself suddenly needing to hold group discussions online? You’re not alone. This rubric and task description can be used to introduce a new kind of discussion to a class that has previously been held in person, or for a class that was always intended to be online.

Readings and discussion topic will be posted by Friday at midnight.

Initial posts must be posted by Monday at midnight. Initial posts must:

• Be 200-300 words

• Respond to all parts of the prompt

• Use proper grammar and citations

At least 2 responses must be posted by Wednesday at midnight. Responses must:

• Be at least 100 words

• Build off what others wrote before you, not merely restate or disagree with what has already been said

• Use proper grammar and citations

Suggested age range: Grades 9-12, Post-secondary
