A Bit of Redesign

Due to the popularity of the ACT/SAT Prep Guide, I created a Resources page that will have easy-to-find links to each of the prep guide posts. You can find a link to the Resources page at the top of each STEMsmart Consulting page or visit stemsmartconsulting.com/resources.

You will also notice a Common Core Math Guide for Parents and Families on the Resources page. The Guide is a biiiiiiiiiiiig project, so I thought I’d have the rough draft available as I add to it.

Here’s the blurb about the Guide:

Confused by Common Core Math? Wondering what an area model, tape diagram, or fraction story is? The Common Core Math Guide for Parents will help provide the answers you need to help your students with their homework.

For each Common Core math standard, the guide will provide:

  • The standard

  • Brief description of what the standard means

  • Context for the standard (i.e. what standards are we building upon, or how are we going to build upon this standard in the future)

  • Explanation of how to perform any tasks associated with the standard

  • Example

  • Helpful links

The Guide is a work in progress. I am hoping to do the first domain for each middle school grade first, and then expand from there. I have already completed the first 6th grade domain (Ratios & Proportional Relationships) and am working on the same domain in 7th grade. If there’s a certain domain or cluster of standards you’d like to see next in the Guide, email me at robinsatty@stemsmartconsulting.com.
